The training schedule is adapted to suit us. We usually devote time to them after a working day or perhaps on those days when we wake up with extra energy, we prefer to exercise our body first thing in the morning. We follow our own instincts, but which time is better than another? Is it better to train in the morning or in the last hour of the day?
The answer, as it could not be otherwise, lies in the hands of science. And one or the other schedule may be better depending on the training we do, since starting a cardio workout at night is not the same as doing some yoga stretches and a set of strength exercises at first glance in the morning.
Research conducted by the University of São Paulo in Brazil and the University of Oregon in the USA examined the effectiveness of aerobic exercise on hypertension depending on the time of exercise, concluding that nighttime physical activity alone would have positive effect the baroreflex is one of the main mechanisms of short-term regulation of blood pressure, maintaining the balance of the cardiovascular system.
This ten-week experiment involved 23 patients over 60 years of age with hypertension who exercised on a stationary bike three times a week for 45 minutes at moderate intensity. For this, the volunteers were divided into two groups: 12 people who trained in the morning from 7:00 to 10:00, and 11 people who trained in the afternoon, from 17:00 to 20:00: 00.
Taking into account several points, the scientists noticed from the results obtained that those who trained on an exercise bike at night significantly improved all the main parameters indicating the optimal state of the body. The cardiovascular system, while the group that exercised in the morning only had diastolic blood pressure levels. According to the study, training at night will improve blood pressure regulation in the short term by increasing baroreflex sensitivity.
