Alex Salmond, the former Prime Minister of Scotland, who led the effort to become independent from the United Kingdom in the 2014 referendum, has died, his political party, the Scottish National Party (SNP), announced this Saturday on the social network X. Announced.

Salmond resigned as head of the Scottish Government following the 2014 independence referendum, in which “No” won with 55% of the vote.
