In January 2023 there was a very advanced approach to what was to become Suzuki’s first electric car. We’re talking about the Suzuki eVX, the same prototype that also turned heads at the Japan Mobility Show held last October. It has now gone from concept car to production model, and the final result has just been unveiled as the e Vitara.
What we have in the images is a car conceived as a concept “emotional versatile traveler”with a design that combines the modernity of an electric vehicle with the reliability of a 4×4 vehicle, conveying an adventurous character. Suzuki’s first electric model features striking aesthetics: big-diameter tires, plenty of muscle and wheelbase up to 2.70 meters (20 centimeters more than the standard Suzuki Vitara).
From the inside, the e Vitara looks like a well-finished car that adds a touch of fashion. merge two screensdigital instrument panel and multimedia system. The multifunction steering wheel has no lower lever, and the center console has a floating design with a rotary gear selector in the middle. We also see that the Japanese firm continues to use physical climate control buttonswhich is very successful.
Supporting this vehicle, so important to the brand, is a newly developed architecture specific to electric vehicles. Called Heartect-e, we are presented with a lightweight construction platform that provides a spacious interior and short overhangs. There are two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh.. The first can only be associated with a front-wheel drive version and an available electric motor with a power of 144 horsepower. The second is also available in 4×2 version, but is associated with a more powerful engine developing 174 hp. In turn, the all-wheel drive version adds a second engine to the latter, providing a total output of 183 horsepower.
This The 4×4 variant uses AllGrip-e electric all-wheel drive.with two independent eAxles (a set combining a motor and an inverter) located on the front and rear axles. Suzuki claims that this system “not only delivers high performance, but also provides precise control and excellent responsiveness.” It’s worth noting that all-wheel drive comes with a Trail mode designed to “smoothly get out of rough terrain” by applying the brakes to wheels that have lost traction and distributing torque to the opposite wheel to act as a limited-slip differential.
The Japanese brand has not provided many details about the arrival of this car in our market, although we know that YesIts landing in Europe will take place in the summer of 2025.. e Vitara will be sourced from India, namely Suzuki’s Gujarat plant. Prices should be slightly above 30,000 euros.
