The Aragon-based mortgage firm improved its performance in November but continues to have negative rates with a 20% year-on-year drop.

Number of mortgages on houses in Aragon in November decreased by 20.05% compared to the same month of the previous year – compared to a decline of 19.07% at the national level – to 678 operations, although the inter-year figure improves compared to that recorded in the previous month, an increase of 19.9 points, according to data released National Institute of Statistics (INE).

In Aragon, 78.69 million euros were issued for the creation of mortgages in November, 23.19% less capital provided than a year ago. Compared to the previous month, Capital provided to originate mortgages rose 8.9%.

Taking into account the total number of farms in total 907 mortgages in the region with a capital expenditure of 91.6 million euros. Of these, 23 were in rural areas and 884 were urban property.

Of the 884 mortgages issued in November for urban properties in Aragon, 678 were about houses; 6 on plots and 200 on other types.

The number of operations to change the subject – subrogation to the creditor – was 46, and in 27 mortgages the owner of the pledged property was changed – subrogation to the debtor. Of the 378 mortgages with a change in terms, 305 were due to a novation.

On the other hand, 1,381 real estate loans in Aragon were cancelled. Of these, 911 were for houses, 119 for rural properties, 340 for urban properties and 11 for land plots.

By autonomous communities, the number of mortgage loans issued fell in all autonomous communities compared to the previous year, with the exception of Castilla-La Mancha, where the number of mortgages signed increased by 40.94%%, and in Cantabria by 8.03%. Otherwise, the largest decline was recorded in La Rioja (-53.38%), followed by Extremadura (-45.44%) and the Balearic Islands (-39.35%).

Regarding the amount of credit, this figure decreased in all autonomous communities with the exception of Castile-La Mancha, with an increase of 58.22% year on year. Otherwise, the leaders are Extremadura (-46.75%), the Balearic Islands (-40.24%) and the Canary Islands (-38.92%). Meanwhile, on the opposite side are Cantabria (-2.93%) and Madrid (-8.40%).
