The Generalitat is promoting the creation of a business cluster for diagnostic cancer imaging.

Regional Minister of Industry, Felipe Carrascoannounced that “the Generalitat will advocate the creation Cancer diagnostic imaging business clusterwith the aim of leading the work and research related to the European Cancer Imaging Initiative in the Valencian Community.

As the Regional Secretary recalled, the Department of Innovation, Industry, Trade and Tourism is co-financing the participation of the Valencian Community in the amount of 1.8 million euros European project EUCAIM. This project, designed in European Cancer Imaging Initiativewhich aims to apply technologies such as imaging and artificial intelligence to cancer treatment and care.

“EUCAIM,” he continued, “has research teams from the Health Research Institute of La Fe (HULAFE), the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) and the University of Valencia (UV). Now it’s about promotion creation of spin-off universities that also work in this area

and encourage other companies to join forces and join the medical imaging ecosystem.”

Moreover, in accordance with the policies pursued by the Valencian Government, we are betting that the necessary conditions will be created to increase the competitiveness of those who exist and attract others to join and ultimately create Cancer Image Cluster in the Valencian Community

According to Carrasco, “we must ensure that precision medicine researchers

Added to this are the efforts of companies related to bioengineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and all others, capable of applying various advanced technologies in the treatment and care of cancer.”

The Regional Minister of Industry reminds that “EUCAIM plans to make cancer imaging data available to Artificial Intelligence Healthcare Testing and Experimentation Center, created as part of the DIGITAL program. “This will allow small and medium-sized companies that have developed artificial intelligence solutions for cancer treatment to test them in real-world settings.”

“We must take into account that clinical imaging companies using artificial intelligence are revolutionizing the medical field by offering advanced solutions for diagnosis and treatment. These companies, with very high added value, play a decisive role in medical research, contributing to the analysis of large data sets and the identification of relevant trends and patterns,” concluded Felipe Carrasco.

European Cancer Imaging Initiative

The European Cancer Imaging Initiative aims to promote innovation and the adoption of digital technologies in cancer treatment and care. This way you can achieve more accurate clinical decision making, diagnosis, treatment and drug prediction and quickly for patients with this pathology.

The EUCAIM project brings together organizations and expert personnel in disciplines as diverse as radiology, oncology, data management, computing, ethics, law or artificial intelligence, with the goal of creating an oncology imaging infrastructure. over 60 million data more than 100,000 patients. This data will allow for deeper analysis of images, extracting important information for diagnosing diseases without the need for biopsies, using less invasive methods for each patient and offering the best treatment for any type of tumor.

The project has global funding 35 million euros and a total of 79 partners from 14 European Union countries are participating. Of the 18 Spanish organizations working on the project, three represent the Valencian Community.
