Within the Fine Arts category.

The winner and shortlisted photos will be revealed on 12 September in London will be projected on the screen of the symbolic Piccadilly Circus Square. The Menorcan photographer would be there, who took this incredible, almost dreamlike image, one day when he was sailing with his boat off Fornells, about 10 miles from the mainland.

The sight astonished him. “You see a lot of seagulls, but this one was stuck out of the water, we thought it was floating on a log and when we got closer we saw it was on a turtle,” he says.

“The best moment was when he looked at me”

He thought the turtle might have died, but no, “he looked at me, and that was the best moment,” recalls this ocean-loving photographer, who collaborates with organizations such as Save the Med, Alnitak and GOB.

photo, unretouched, It was taken about five meters away from the animalswhich was flowing peacefully on the water. The bird flew away and the turtle, seeing that the human had no intention of harming him, stayed a while longer, submerged and coming up to breathe, until he was lost in the vastness of the blue.
