The management game that threatens The Sims’ dominance announces early access

Several months after the latest information related to the promising ‘Life is you’, the Paradox Tectonic team returns to reveal development details on an ambitious open-world management game in the style of The Sims, confirming plans for it to enter Early Access. In this way, the development team will lift the curtain on this interesting simulator focused on managing a small digital community, using tools that promise to offer fans of the genre the greatest creative freedom.

New start date

Previously scheduled for March 5, 2024, the early access phase of the new software is scheduled to start on June 4 on PC. In this regard, the developers emphasize that the three-month delay will allow them to improve the technical sector and further improve the gameplay, taking inspiration from tips and feedback from the community. Additionally, since the project’s announcement, the stated intention of the software company, led by Rod Humble (former director of Second Life and EA’s Sims division), is to collaborate with players to shape a next-generation experience that takes advantage of the creativity of genre fans, in including due to full support for mods.

Life by You is presented as a life simulation game with creative freedom that allows you to tell stories without restrictions. “Players can design and live the lives of the people they create in an open game world where everything is customizable. Players can design their homes, build their homes, and tell a variety of life stories,” explains Paradox Tectonic.

The format opts for communication and conversations in natural language, and also adds the ability to switch from third-person play to direct control. The game also promises “deep creation and editing tools such as a character creator, item designer, language trees, etc.,” all of which will be available to players so they can modify and adapt the game to their story.

“The core of Life by You is the community of players,” Rod Humble, CEO of Paradox Tectonic, recently commented. “We created a sandbox where players can tell the story they want. From the most personal to the most esoteric, including fan fiction, they will be able to live life to the fullest or break the rules as they please.”
