A while ago, Rockstar Games released a “next-gen update” for Grand Theft Auto V (and GTA Online) for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. In it, the developers improved the graphics, added ray tracing, improved lighting quality and increased texture resolution.
This update has not yet been released on PC, but over time the developers have announced that they plan to correct the situation.
In their official blog, Rockstar Games confirmed that a similar patch will be released for GTA Online (and GTA 5) on PC, but the developers are not yet ready to share specific information.
…We’re also planning to bring the features you’ve requested from the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online to PC next year.
This will likely be one of the last updates to GTA V, as Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in the fall of 2025, which will likely have a similar online component. There will be no reason for the developers to keep the old game online since they will be completely dedicated to improving the new crime game.
