The Spanish government avoids calling the situation in Venezuela a dictatorship: “We are not here to act as political scientists”

The Attorney General has repeatedly behaved like a political accuser: already denouncing and now pressing for a summons without guarantee of freedom and due process,” he declared through a video shared on his profile on the social network X.

Alberes has reiterated his support for the Latin American country and indicated that Venezuela is “a brotherly country” and Spain has “an important role to play” “Promoting dialogue between the government and the opposition.” In this sense, he highlighted the “mediation” of former socialist president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, who “receives the gratitude of both the Venezuelan opposition and the government for his work.”

Regarding the war in Gaza, the minister has indicated that the moment of “maximum tension” is approaching. “This direct confrontation between Israel and Hezbollah is a point we have been pointing out for months, that the war is possible to expand to Lebanon, and it will become a regional war with very serious implications.”

With the intention of ending this conflict, Alberes has called for a ceasefire and for humanitarian aid to be delivered “without hindrance”. A framework must be established in which negotiations can take place between Israel and the Palestinians.
