The XI Psychiatric Research Forum CIBERSAM will be held in Zaragoza on March 7 and 8.

Zaragoza will host on March 7 and 8 XI Forum for Research in Psychiatry CIBERSAM. The event will open Ana Gonzalez-Pintoscientific director of CIBERSAM, Margarita BlazquezCIBER manager, and Marina Pollan, the new director of ISCIII. During the opening session the topic of internationalization will be addressed by presenting “CIBER Internationalization Platform” its coordinator Christina Rodriguez, which will highlight the opportunities and resources available for international collaboration in mental health research.

New Advances in CIBERSAM Mental Health Programs

The roundtables will help make visible the research being carried out in each of CIBERSAM’s six research programs by fellows who will present their work or projects of greatest impact and quality.

The first round table, moderated by Diego PalaoCoordinator of the Depression and Suicide Prevention Program, will focus on advances in treatment and understanding depression

. Relevant research will be presented, such as the relationship between consumption of ultra-processed foods and symptoms of depression, as well as analysis of emotional difficulties in adolescence and their relationship with self-harm and suicide.

This will be followed by a round table Bipolar disorder (TB)Moderation Vicent Balanzacoordinator of the TB program at CIBER, where the latest advances in the field will be presented, including biomarker research and transdiagnostic perspectives on emotional regulation.

Third round table, moderated by Inmaculada Baeza, Program Coordinator. Child and Adolescent Psychiatry CIBER will focus on advances in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders in young populations and the impact of child abuse on stress regulation.

The last round table of the day will be dedicated to Therapeutic Innovations and will be moderated Juan Carlos Lesa, coordinator of the Therapeutic Innovation Program. This session will present important advances in this area. Research related to relaxinergic innervation of the retrosplenic cortex in a context-conditioned fear configuration will be discussed, as well as the development of a humanized mouse model of bipolar disorder, which opens new perspectives for the study and treatment of this mental illness.

The first day of the XI CIBERSAM Forum will end with a keynote lecture by Prof. Ulrich Hegerl

from the University of Frankfurt, who will talk about community-based interventions to combat depression and suicidal behavior.

On the second day, two new round tables will be held. The first one will be dedicated Psychosomatic, anxiety and impulse control disorders. This discussion will be moderated Josep Antoni Ramos Quiroga, Coordinator of the CIBER program on psychosomatic, anxiety and impulsive disorders. This session will highlight significant advances in the field of these disorders. In addition, studies of sex differences in longitudinal trajectories of cognitive aging and the use of gene expression-based measures of risk for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) will be presented.

The next round table will be dedicated to Schizophrenia and will be moderated by EDit Pomarol-Clote, CIBER Schizophrenia Program Coordinator. This session will highlight notable advances in this area. In addition, research on deep brain stimulation and digital monitoring in patients with schizophrenia and treatment-resistant bipolar disorder will be discussed, as well as the role of negative symptoms of schizophrenia in response to a reward stimulus, studied using an error task. (RPE).

Session on Social Impact and Collaboration in Epidemiology and Public Health; and mental health (CIBERESP-CIBERSAM)

There will also be Social Impact Sessionwhere mental health research needs will be examined from the perspective of patients and their families. Itziar Ceballosmanager of AVIFES and member of the CIBERSAM External Scientific Advisory Committee, will offer relevant perspectives on this topic.

Subsequently Interregional conference CIBER moderated by Ana Gonzalez-Pinto, Scientific Director of CIBERSAM. Jordi Alonso, scientific deputy director of the direction of epidemiology and mental health (CIBERESP), will present “CIBERESP: opening bridges to cooperation.”
