These are the 5 foods you should avoid to live longer, according to a Harvard biologist | Health | Magazine

Over time, more and more research is emerging on how to prevent aging. When it comes to health experts, many of their tips and recommendations are based mainly on consuming foods to live longer.

In this sense, the biologist David Sinclaira renowned Harvard researcher shares his ideas on the matter and explains which foods to avoid once you reach a certain age.

The specialist proceeds from the fact that people who have reached 30 years of their biological age should work to improve their lifestyle and change their eating habits and thereby help slow down aging. For this reason, he recommends eliminating five major foods that are harmful to your health.

Products that will help you live longer and slow down aging

There are certain foods that contribute to many diseases, so Sinclair shares his observations and recommends replacing them if you want to slow down the passage of time in the body.

1. Sugar

According to Sinclair, sugar is the main enemy of the human body, as it promotes aging and increases the risk of chronic diseases.

This ingredient is very common in energy drinks and industrial fruit juices, so David Sinclair recommends replacing them with natural and unprocessed products.

2. Ultra-processed foods

Today, many foods are chemically altered by adding additives, preservatives, and artificial flavors, which contribute to accelerated aging, as mentioned on the above-mentioned website. The most advisable thing, according to Sinclair, is to eat natural, unprocessed foods.

3. Alcohol

Drinking alcohol is harmful to your health, so a Harvard researcher recommends moderating your consumption and opting for healthier drinks. It can be replaced with infusions and fruit-flavored water.

4. Meat and dairy products

Reducing your consumption of meat and dairy products can be beneficial if you want to slow down aging.

In this sense, Sinclair relies on research published in the journal International Journal of Epidemiology where it is stated that higher consumption of red meat increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Replacing these products with products of plant origin, such as legumes, seeds, quinoa, and nuts, also has a beneficial effect.

5. Refined carbohydrates

Refined carbohydrates include white bread, cookies or cakes, which are considered meteorite, have the same effects on the body as sugar, in addition to increasing blood glucose and insulin spikes, they pose a greater risk of heart disease and diabetes. It also contributes to faster aging.
