The previous generation of ChatGPT has already made a big impact in some industries, where it has been used to automate processes such as creating reports, legal documents, contracts, data analysis or programming assistance.

AI: Human Ally or Substitute

One of the biggest issues that AI raises is whether it will replace humans in the near future, causing them to lose their jobs. As a result of this concern, various studies have emerged that have analyzed impact of AI in various industries.

The graph shows which industries will have the greatest impact from AI on their processes. To determine the impact, a study was conducted World Economic Forum more than 19,000 tasks were assessed for 867 professions in various industries.

This helped them determine the extent to which LLMs (Large Language Models) contributed to this task. If it were believed that AI could somehow intervene in this task, then the need for human participation in this performance. For example, AI could draft a commercial contract between two parties, but it would be up to the parties to agree on the terms and pass them on to the AI ​​model to include them in the contract.

Based on the degree of automation of these tasks, the study determined the percentage of impact, designating fully automated tasks as “High Impact.” Those tasks in which automation still requires human participation are classified as “Low Impact”. The No Impact designation refers to those in which there will be little or no use of AI in support or it will be impossible to apply this automation due to the large amount of manual component of the task.

Sectors most sensitive to AI

In this context, the segments with the greatest impact of AI will be the manufacturing industries. information technology and financewith an influence of 73% and 70% of highly automated tasks, respectively.

Only 26% of tasks performed in the IT sector will not have much impact with the advent of AI. In the financial sector, the percentage of tasks with little AI influence drops to 21%. Only 1% of IT tasks will be free from the influence of AI. We imagine that in the future someone will have to make coffee, and it will probably be a person. At the moment, the financial sector matters, highlighting 9% of tasks that will not be affected by the impact of AI.

By analyzing the research data, we can determine that an example of a profession that is very susceptible to automation through AI models is the profession: credit analyst and examiners. These jobs show an automation rate of 88% of their tasks.

On the other hand, forensic scientists report 58% automation of their tasks with AI, but they offset 37% of their tasks that are not influenced by AI, so human presence is still important, although their productivity will be increased manifold.

People + AI: the magic formula for productivity

Something similar is happening in sectors such as sales or operations, where although they show values ​​of 67% and 65% respectively, they compensate for the 17% of tasks that, at least for now, cannot be performed by artificial intelligence. .

This means that these sectors will see significant productivity growth in the coming years as employees They will stop taking on the most routine tasksand will focus only on those that the AI ​​cannot do.

A more complex picture is painted for the human resources, marketing and legal advice sectors. Here, AI remains highly influential in terms of full automation (57% to 46%) and will perform many support tasks by facilitating analysis processes (41% to 50% of tasks).

However, they retain a small percentage of 2% to 4% where human presence is essential. This will entail a reduction in the workforce in these segments, but given their strategic importance, many jobs will still be retained.

The sector that will be least affected by the impact of AI will be the supply chain and manufacturing sector. The study shows that while it is true that 43% of processes can be automated, there is another 39% of tasks that AI will not be able to take over.
