The world of coin collecting continues to surprise, and this time a 2 euro coin issued in Germany has attracted the attention of fans, with a price exceeding 1,500 euros.

The special design, which pays tribute to the constitution of the Paulskirche, its rarity on the market and some errors in minting have made it a real treasure.
The coin, known as the “Tree of Life”, was designed by Joaquin Jimenez and released in 2024 to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Paulskirche constitution in Germany, a historic milestone in the establishment of democracy in the country.
On the reverse is the inscription “Paulskirchenverfassung 1849” and the letter “D”, indicating German origin. This historical event, key in the history of Germany, gave the coin special significance not only for collectors, but also for those who are interested in European history.
What has really increased their value dramatically are the minting errors that are present in some of these coins. Some of the most common errors include structural alignment issues, double punching, and slight edge deviations.
Moreover, the wood grain lines on some items are not clearly defined, causing collectors to go crazy trying to acquire a copy that is in perfect condition or, curiously, one that contains these errors.
Although 30 million of these coins were produced, the value lies not only in their commemorative design, but also in the features of these regulations.
Currently, rare copies containing errors can be found on sites such as eBay for prices exceeding 1,700 euros. This type of minting error is common in coin collecting, but few reach as high a value as this commemorative piece.
The coin’s design, created by artist Bodo Broschat, includes the 12 stars of the European Union, which symbolize Germany’s connection to the European project.
Additionally, the tree framed by a hexagon symbolizes life and growth, while the letters “RF” refer to the French Republic, giving the piece an international flair.
