In a world where computer fraud is commonplace, it was only a matter of time before thieves adopted new theft tactics. Since the end of 2023, various incidents involving this characteristic have occurred and been reported, but the latest method is even more dangerous and fast. Criminals are looking for vulnerable targets for their scams: with the click of a button, they can obtain bank details and all the information contained on the phone.

How does WhatsApp video calling scam happen?

It all starts with a video call from an unknown number – the first warning sign. If the user receives an incoming call, the scammers inform the victim that there is some technical problem with the camera and ask them to click the “Share Screen” button. Once criminals can see the contents of the other phone’s panel, send SMS and display security code
