Until recently, mini PCs were considered second class passengers in the world of PCs and laptops, but that is rapidly changing. Some manufacturers are turning them into increasingly reliable equipment, but at the same time creating the most striking models.
This is a case of new Miniforum AtomMan X7 Ti, a mini PC that introduces a new family of high-performance, small-format computers. Not only are there notable features, but also notable design elements.
So we’re looking at a mini PC that boasts an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, the most powerful processor in the Meteor Lake laptop family, but which turns out to be a great mini PC option in this case.
The chip has 16 cores (6 performance, 8 efficiency, 2 super-efficiency), 22 execution threads and operating frequencies of up to 5.1 GHz for performance cores. The Intel Arc graphics processor has 8 Xe cores with a frequency of 2.25 GHz, which allows, among other things, to use it as a full-fledged gaming device, if you slightly reduce the resolution and graphics quality.
The device uses DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM modules (up to 64 GB) and has two M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe slots. The base TDP is 45W, but at full speed it can reach 115W, which gives a good idea of its performance being comparable to that of the latest generation of desktop processors.
Connectivity is also excellent: we have support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and two Ethernet connectors with 5 Gbps connectivity. We also have a DP 2.0 port, HDMI 2.1, an Oculink port (for connecting external graphics), 2 x USB-C (USB 4.0), 2 x USB-A (USB 3.2 Gen 2), another 2 x USB-A (USB 3.2). Gen 1), headphone port, SD card slot and power button with integrated fingerprint scanner. We are therefore faced with an enviable choice that, for example, allows you to work with four monitors connected to this mini-PC.
But in addition to these fantastic features, the Minisforum mini PC has a four-inch 480p touchscreen in its body, which we can customize to display system information in a variety of styles or a simple clock, among other options.
Above this screen is another surprise: 1080p webcam with Windows Hello support which allows us to log in using facial recognition, but is also a valuable option for the possibility of video conferencing with this element. The device also has a physical switch to lock the webcam and protect your privacy.
The price for this equipment has not yet been announced, but the Minisforum indicates that it can be reserved starting May 20 next year. It probably won’t be cheap, but we’re definitely looking at a mini PC, which shows that this type of hardware can be particularly ambitious.
