LOGROÑO, January 20 (EUROPE PRESS) –
This Saturday, the 20th, in the SIBIR assembly hall, the second day of in-person vaccination against the influenza virus of children from 6 months to 4 years was held, during which 61 little residents of Riohan were vaccinated: 48 intranasally and 13 intramuscularly.
The Ministry of Health and Social Policy recommends and continues to encourage Rioja families to vaccinate their children against influenza, not only as a measure to protect themselves, but also the elderly and vulnerable people around them.
Influenza is not a trivial disease, and vaccinating children is key to preventing complications such as hospitalization. In fact, influenza affects 20 to 40 percent of the child population, depending on the size of the epidemic, and 5 percent of cases result in hospitalization due to its severity.
Influenza vaccination in this campaign was developed in two ways: intranasal (for 2 years) or intramuscular (6 to 23 months). Over two days on the last two Saturdays, nursing specialists treated 206 children to further increase immunization rates against the virus among the population in these age groups.
VACCINATION CAMPAIGN
On October 2, La Rioja launched a joint flu and COVID vaccination campaign in nursing homes. Likewise, the campaign continued in the week of October 9 among people over 85 years of age, as well as health and social care professionals from the Rioja Health Service. Since October 16, vaccination has continued among the rest of the target population.
In this sense, to avoid waiting and ensure effective vaccination, Salud recommends making an appointment at the relevant health centers for immunization.
