‘Echo’ is a series produced by Marvel Studios for Disney+. After the start of the collaboration between both parties with ‘Scarlet Witch and Vision’, which was followed by other fictions such as ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Loki’, ‘Moon Knight’ or ‘Ms. Marvel’, ‘Echo’ is integrated into the later stage of the Marvel Universe, Phase 5when the alternation between movies and series is already fully established in the saga.
In fact, in this case we are dealing with a spin-off, since the titular protagonist is presented in the first instance in ‘Hawkeye’. In that bet, led by Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, Alaqua Cox gave life to Maya Lopez, a brave young woman who, after suffering a traumatic event related to her family, embarks on a journey of revenge. With that mission in mind, he sets his sights on Clint Barton, though suspicions turn to him as he discovers the real culprit: the Kingpin.
Aware of that reality and having already fought Wilson Fisk, Maya faces up to her past by returning to her native home in the spin-off. In this way, she seeks to reconnect with her native roots to better understand herself, which serves to understand its origins and the figure of Echothe alter ego that he assumes to exploit his gift to imitate other people’s abilities despite his deafness.
The cast is completed by Zahn McClarnon, Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning and Graham Greene, who are joined by two stars of the superhero environment: Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Coxwho were Fisk and Matt Murdock in ‘Daredevil’ and joined the Marvel Universe with ‘Hawkeye’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, respectively.
For their part, Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie share the episodes as directors, while Marion Dayre oversees the creative process as lead writer.
