This was announced at a press conference by the president of state lotteries and betting, Jesús Huerta, who presented the summer advertising campaign for this year’s draw, which costs about 386,000 euros, the same as in 2023.

As every year, the lottery prize program includes Christmas “Gordo” or first prize, 4,000,000 euros per series (400,000 euros per tenth); second prize – 1,250,000 euros per series (125,000 euros per tenth); or third – 500,000 euros per series (50,000 euros per tenth). The amount of the tenth is still 20 euros.

Answering a question about the reasons that prompted lotteries to increase the number of series, the president clarified that everything is “very protocolled”so the sales volume is analyzed using mathematical formulas. Thus, Huerta detailed that last year in the last few days there were customers who could no longer find a certain number, which resembles an anniversary, such as the date of their wedding or the birth of their children. “We always calculate that We can’t have a lot of lottery leftovers and we can’t lose. So, based on the results of these mathematical formulas, a study is conducted every year. And this year it has determined that it is important to increase emissions, not because we are short, but so that there are not too many missing figures, especially in the last week,” explained the president, who aims to “at least” sell as much as in the previous year, and “if possible, increase by a few percentage points.”

Huerta also presented the tenth Christmas lottery of this year, which is illustrated by Francisco and Rodrigo de Osona’s work “Nativity” from the Prado National Museum. “Every year the tenths are put up for sale, and at the same time they are also a tribute to our culture“, he emphasized.
