SANTO DOMINGO — Christian Adames hit an RBI single to break a tie in the third inning in Tigres del Lisi’s 7-4 victory over Gigantes del Cibao on Wednesday in the Dominican Baseball League round robin.
Adames became the first Litzy batter to hit an inside-the-park home run in the round robin in the eighth inning off a four-seam fastball from Raymin Guduan.
With their victory, Tigres shared first place with Estrellas Orientales, who lost their match against Leones del Esido with an identical 8-4 record in San Pedro de Macoris.
Jack Thompson faced the first twelve batters in two innings, with five hits, two earned runs, two strikeouts and a home run.
Carlos Vargas (G, 1-0) struck out one of the three batters he faced in one inning. Jairo Asensio (S, 4) allowed one hit in the ninth inning.
Antonio Santos allowed two hits, one walk and three strikeouts against ten batters in two innings.
Anderson Pilar (P, 0-1) couldn’t get an out in the third inning with two hits, three runs and two earned against four batters.

With six games left in the tournament, Estrellas Orientales and Tigres del Lisi are tied for first place with a 4-3 record, followed by Leones del Esgido (5-7) and Gigantes del Cibao (2-9).
Severino and Navarro lead the lions over the stars
On the other hand, Pedro Severino and Jamaica Navarro scored and drove in two runs each in Leones del Esgido’s 6-1 win over Estrellas Orientales at Tetelo Vargas Stadium.
The Lions improved their record to 4-7 and remained in third place in the round-robin semifinals and snapped a two-game losing streak. The Stars (8-4) lost their third straight game.
The Stars scored first, scoring one late in the first; Ferabnda Tatis Jr.’s groundout to second base brought Dayron Blanco home to make the score 1-0.
In the second inning, Severino hit a home run against Johnny Cueto, who came out of left field and drove in Jose Marmolejos for a 2–1 lead.
In the third, Yairo Muñoz singled to left field and drove in Starlin Mart in the third red.
The Lions scored the fourth run with Marte’s single driving in Junior Lake, now against Austin Davis.
Leones’ fifth and sixth runs came in the eighth against Raffi Vizcaino. Munoz led off with a single to right field, and with the count 2–1, Navarro hit deep through center field for a two-run home run.
For the Lions, Cecilio Pimentel got the win with one and two-thirds innings and the only walk his team gave up.
The loss went to Johnny Cueto, who pitched 2.2 innings in his debut with three hits, three runs, all earned, and four walks allowed, in addition to a home run allowed.
