Reaching your Gmail storage limit is becoming a constant problem. The 15 GB that Google provides for all its services has become insufficient over the years. Although there is a way to continue using email without having to pay.
The solution that the company keeps telling us is to pay a monthly or annual subscription to Google One. a service that will allow us to expand the storage space for all of the company’s applications, among other features.
But not all users can afford such luxury and they need to use their email to receive or send messages for school, work, or because utility bills and various alerts that interest you come there.
Before reaching the information limit, Google warns us that in the case of Gmail, there will come a point when we will not be able to send or receive emails.. A problem for many that has the following solution:
The first step is to create a new Google account. We can use any available email address for this purpose, but to make the process easier, we suggest naming it something that is easily identifiable, such as “account2@gmail.com” and this will be the example we will use for this. happening.
Log in to the original Gmail account that we will use all the time and does not have enough space. Once in the mailbox, you need to find the settings button, which is usually indicated by a gear icon and select the Settings option.
In your account settings, find the “POP/IMAP Forwarding and Mail” section. This section will allow you to set up automatic forwarding of emails to another email address.
In the forwarding section, select the “Add forwarding address” option. Here, enter the email address of the new account we created in the first step (account2@gmail.com).
After adding a new forwarding address, Gmail will ask us to confirm the action. Make sure you select the option indicating that we want to forward all emails.
both those received in the past and those that will arrive in the future. This way, we will have a second account as a backup to receive information that does not reach us in the original email. The idea is to use this alternate email address for this purpose only, rather than storing photos or content in Drive, which again fills up storage space.
It should be noted that each Google account includes 15 GB of shared storage between Drive, Gmail and Google Photos.
And for debugging email there are two useful ways: view the heaviest files and documents which are stored in the account.
First consists of Search by size and to use this feature you need:
There is also option “View large elements”and to use it you need:
At this moment a new tab will open, where you can view the items to be deleted, such as deleted emails, spam, junk files, and unsupported videos. In addition, space can be freed up for each service.
