The winner of the elections in the United States, Republican Donald Trump, announced this Thursday (11/07/2024) that Susie Wills, shadow director of his campaign, will be his chief of staff at the White House for his second term. Which will start on 20 January 2025.
Wills will be the first female Chief of Staff, one of the most important positions in the US administration, responsible for coordinating members of the presidential Cabinet.
This is the first appointment Trump has announced after defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in last Tuesday’s elections.
“Susie Wills helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and she was an integral part of my successful 2016 and 2020 campaigns,” Trump said in a statement.
Wills, 67, a New Jersey native, is an experienced political strategist based in Florida, where she has advised mayors, governors and local representatives.
He has been in political circles for years and has decades of experience.
In the 1970s, he worked in the Washington office of New York Congressman Jack Kemp and later worked on the campaign that brought Republican Ronald Reagan to the presidency (1981–1989).
He also managed Trump’s 2016 campaign in Florida, when his victory in the state helped him win the White House.
Two years later, Wills helped elect Ron DeSantis as Governor of Florida. He then led Trump’s campaign in the Republican primary, in which he defeated DeSantis.
