COP29, the United Nations climate summit held in Baku (Azerbaijan), is facing this week one of the most thorny debates in this type of international conference: that of climate financing.

What was decided in this debate? How to economically help countries with low resources cut emissions by moving away from fossil fuels.

• That is, how much money should be dedicated to this cause, how will it be raised and who should put it on the table.

Controversy: Developed countries, which have so far been the financiers, want other economically powerful countries and large greenhouse gas emitters to also contribute. They mention China.

The international context is a bit turbulent:

• The next President of the United States, Donald Trump, had already pulled his country out of the Paris Agreement (which establishes measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions) in his previous term. and this new York Times
