Vaccination against influenza and covid in medical centers, Monday

This year’s “target” population of 60 years and older for flu and covid vaccinations can begin receiving doses starting this Monday when vaccination clinics open up at health centers. As usual in recent years, especially with the advent of coronavirus, the vaccination process began with the most vulnerable sections of the population, so the first vaccines were delivered to homes, where the process began at the beginning of the month. Although the Ministry of Health confirms that this phase has not yet ended as planned, vaccination will begin in health centers from Monday, for which the usual appointment procedure with a specific vaccination program will be followed. Vaccination can be accessed through the Sacyl Conecta app, where you can book an appointment on an agenda called a flu vaccination. Another option is through the Health Castilla y León website, also in the same way, although this can also be done by telephone, making an appointment for this program, or directly through the administration of the health centers.

There are approximately 90,000 vaccine doses available for Avila for this campaign. Of these, 51.3 thousand doses are for influenza, and for covid, which depend on the ministry, there will be about 37 thousand.

New this year for this target population, the age has been lowered to those over 60, down from 65 before. As a previous step, there was a part of the residence halls where not only residents but also residents are being vaccinated. also offered to staff. This phase also included particularly vulnerable groups, such as children aged 6 to 59 months, as well as pregnant women.

Since the campaign was announced, there have been calls for people to get vaccinated as a form of prevention. This happens to both vulnerable populations and caregivers. Of course, they explained that the campaign lasts three to four months, so there is time for everyone who wants to get vaccinated. Therefore, active recruitment will be carried out from medical centers so that they are called and offered vaccination. This set will include children and adults with risk factors.

It must be remembered that, along with influenza, the most vulnerable sections of the population, as well as health and social care workers, will be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to reduce morbidity and mortality, as well as the impact of this disease on healthcare capacity.

During last year’s campaign, 48,543 people were vaccinated against influenza in Avila, with the highest coverage among people over 60, where it exceeded 63.5 percent of the population. In the case of Covid-19, the number of people vaccinated was 32,163, and coverage of people over 60 years of age was close to 50 percent.
