Victoria’s Secret Angels will return to the catwalk after 4 years

During the year 2019, Victoria’s Secret was the subject of various criticisms and controversies due to the promotion of certain beauty standards. Consequently, the brand decided to end its famous paradewhich was a huge annual event that drew attention from the world of fashion and entertainment.

Back then, Victoria’s Secret reported that it was working to restructure the company to reflect a new vision. Now, after three years, the brand plans to return to the catwalks. As reported by Variety and The New York Post, Timothy Johnson, dThe company’s financial director, announced in a videoconference that “the angels” will parade again in 2023.

Johnson announced that they are looking to renew the show and that they have taken steps to invest in marketing and support the new version of the parade, which will take place at the end of the year. Although no further details were given about the models that will participate in the event, a company spokesperson stated that Victoria’s Secret is committed to championing women and is innovating in every way.

The biggest criticism that the brand received before canceling the presentation of “los angeles” was for promoting an image of extremely thin bodies and for strict diets that some models followed to look almost perfect. Besides, faced accusations of lacking diversity and sexualizing women.

The New York Times published a report in 2020 that accused Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, L Brands, and its former chief marketing officer, Edward Razek, of of creating a culture of misogyny, bullying and harassment within the company.
