Video calling will soon become mixed reality

Video calls remain an important aspect whatsapp, with all the possibilities they offer us, since with them we can communicate in real time, seeing our interlocutors, which saved us from being away from our loved ones during the pandemic. We now know that Meta is preparing new features that will make video calling more fun than ever, all thanks to Mixed Reality itself.

New effects for WhatsApp

Real-time effects on video calls are nothing new, in fact there are many apps that offer this, albeit in a more or less elaborate way. Currently, the Meta app offers the ability to change the wallpaper of these images. video callsand add some pretty simple effects, but as we know now, things are sure to change.

And WabetaInfo revealed a new feature it had access to in the beta version of the app. In the attached screenshot you can see How does a new button appear?n inside the application when we are in a video call, called “Filters”. In addition, next to the “Funds” button we see another “Effects” button. And it looks like these latest effects will be augmented reality, giving the app some capabilities it hasn’t had before.

Therefore facial effects, which will adapt to our movements in real time and therefore give them more believability when it comes to presenting ourselves to others in a fun and different way. But there will be other effects designed to change the appearance of the protagonists of a video call, with filters that polish the skin of our face, make us look younger, and others that we have already seen in various applications, especially on social networks.

With menu By means we can customize the appearance of participants during a video call, which will add more privacy to those users who do not want to show where they are or just want to have fun. All this was noticed in Android beta 2.24.13.14, but at the moment it is completely inactive and therefore not available to all users. For now, it will take a few weeks to reach even beta users, and a little more time before it becomes possible for the rest of the app’s stable users.

Without a doubt, this is a feature that many users will get a lot of benefit from, because it will give us both fun and more privacy in equal measure. The truth is that it’s amazing how much some apps can do with mixed reality, which allows you to create effects on objects or people in the real world, which is undoubtedly much more fun and practical than enjoying a completely enclosed virtual reality space. And in this case, we are confident that it will be a success in such a massive application.
