Worst Dress of All Time at Coachella

When you hear “Coachella style,” the first thing that comes to mind is not the most chic. In recent years, hot jean shorts, a bikini top, a cowboy hat and what looks like fringed suede numbers have become synonymous with the festival. Long gone are the prairie dresses, the right side of the western, and the ever-cool and groovy 60s.

Jared Leto is a good example of how different references from different genres don’t always work together. A grunge plaid shirt and rock ‘n’ roll zebra skinny pants, skater Vans and a sleeveless tee miss the mark because they’re trying too hard to be cool.

Amber Rose is another example of a celebrity trying to capitalize on a music trend of the past—in this case, raver plastic orange pants with an S&M-style leather bra top and platform combat boots. Rose also fails to recapture the ’90s moment.

All the hot shorts paired with crop tops and funky winter footwear like knee-high boots or chunky ankle boots go together and become a prime example of what’s wrong with Coachella style. Adding a mesh top like Victoria Justice or a statement hat like Jasmine Tookes only takes the fashion factor down a notch. In the case of Paris Jackson and Lindsay Lohan, we’re a little speechless. They seemed to be dressing in the dark, or deliberately trying to create a new type of pattern combination that, for good reason, had never been tried before.

Barry Keoghan is one of the celebrities whose style really took a hit at Coachella at the Celsius Desert Oasis party. A Burberry print bandana and matching shorts teamed with an ultra-tight white Versace tank turned the leading man into a fashion victim.

Understandably, this is a denim-focused festival, and opting for acid wash or bleached detailing—or any other adventurous finish—is rarely successful.
