Xiaomi launches the new Redmi Note 13 series, five terminals that will dominate the mid-range

It has been more than four months since Xiaomi introduced the series in China. Redmi Note 13, their new bet on “generation Z”. More than enough time for everyone interested to get a full understanding of these devices that arrive in Spain today. The truth is that these months the easterly winds have brought nothing but good news about these smartphones, which promise to become, now also in the west, one of the most outstanding of the year. And not for less money. Latest processors Cameras of 100 and 200 megapixels.waterproof, screens with a resolution of 1.5 thousand…. Everything the user could want will be in the palm of his hand.

The new series consists of five models: two “regular” and three Pro, all at very affordable prices. Remember that these are mid-range “smartphones”, although this can be forgotten due to a number of components and features more typical of the high-end. Rarely have we had the opportunity to see such value for money.

The first Redmi Note appeared 10 years ago, and since then, according to the company, 338 million devices have been sold worldwide. In fact, this family of phones holds Xiaomi’s sales record. And not for less money. The series has always featured the latest innovations, with a 64MP camera in 2020, a 108MP camera in 2021, and a 200MP camera in this year’s update. Not to mention 120-watt Hypercharging coming in 2022. And that’s it, let’s not forget about this in terminals, prices for which start from 200 euros and usually do not go beyond 400.

Against this background, Redmi Note this year, with only five, cannot be less. The three Pro models (13 Pro, 13 Pro 5G and 13 Pro+ 5G) have a 200-megapixel main sensor. Although the two “regular” ones (Redmi Note 13 and 13 5G) are also not barefoot and offer 108-megapixel sensors.

The big picture

On Pro models, 2x or 4x lossless zoom allows you to focus on subjects at greater distances. This is not a typical digital zoom, but rather a “crop” of the image from the 200-megapixel sensor. In fact, at this resolution we can obtain many different images by enlarging areas of a single original photograph. And they will all be of excellent quality.

All models are equipped, in addition to the main sensors of 200 or 108 megapixels, with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera, as well as a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies.

As for the screens, they are all 6.67-inch AMOLED, although the resolution and specifications vary depending on the model. For example, only the 13 Pro 5G and 13 Pro+ 5G have a 1.5K resolution panel and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection against shocks and scratches. The other three models have to make do with FHD+ on their screens and Gorilla Glass 5. However, all have the same refresh rate: 120 H, the same as the brightness, which reaches a maximum of 1800 nits, which guarantees a bright, clear and clear image even in the fastest moving scenes. Finally, only the top-end Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, allowing it to remain fully submersible for up to 30 minutes at a maximum depth of 1.5 meters. The remaining models, however, are IP 54 certified, meaning they are splash-proof but not submersible.

Power for every taste

Processors also vary from model to model. The most powerful, of course, is the 13 Pro+ 5G, equipped with a chip Mediatek Dimensity 7200-Ultra, manufactured using 4-nanometer technology and specially designed for high-performance mid-range terminals. However, the 13 Pro 5G model is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, while the 13 Pro model, which does not have 5G, has a Mediatek Helio G99-Ultra. The two basic, simpler models use less powerful processors, although they have proven their solvency. So, in the base model we find Qualcomm Snapdragon 685, and in Redmi Note 13 5G – Mediatek Dimensity 6080.

As for the batteries, they are all 5000 milliamps, except for the 13 Pro 5G model, which has 5100, curiously, slightly more than the top model. However, the 13 Pro+ 5G is the only one that offers 120W fast charging, which allows the battery to go from 0 to 100 in just 19 minutes. The other two Pro models have fast charging of 67W (full charge in 45 minutes), and the two base models have fast charging of 33W. Of course, all five models include a charger.

Prices for the new Xiaomi series start from 199 euros for the Redmi Note 13 (in the version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory) and from 499 euros for the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ 5G with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of memory. .
