A computer error occurred in Santander and duplicate payments appeared on accounts in Spain | Companies

Banco Santander Spain woke up this Friday, March 1, to an avalanche of complaints on social networks. Cause? Clients saw accruals for the first day of the month in their applications in duplicate. According to sources in the organization, this is a computer error, just a display error due to which in many cases both expenses and income are displayed twice. Of course, after eleven in the morning the bank claims that the problem has been solved.

Sources in the group emphasize that the balance was never damaged, although it appeared in the mechanism with changes made. Moreover, they deny that this is a cyber attack. If it were a hack, the bank would be required to notify financial regulators, and if it failed to do so, it would face a million-dollar fine.

Complaints from customers reporting the incident have continued to appear on Twitter since early morning. Although the Santander team tried to calm the situation by admitting the mistake and notifying that it was correcting it.

“Our teams are working to resolve the incident. It’s just a display error. Your account balance is correct. As soon as this is corrected, we will notify you,” repeated from the bank’s response channel in Spain. The problem was resolved within a few hours, a little after eleven in the morning.
