Baskonia ends the 23/24 Euroleague season on a high note

Dusko Ivanovic’s men end their European season after losing the third play-off match against Real Madrid

Team Gastestarran is proudly coming off an outstanding EuroLeague season that saw them reach the playoffs again five years later. Dusko Ivanovic’s team says goodbye to European competition after losing to regular-season leader Real Madrid in the third match of the tour before the final, which will be held in Berlin this year.

Baskonia, after a remarkable campaign, finished in eighth position in the regular European League with a record of 18 wins and 16 losses, forcing them to take part in the new Play-In, before finishing in the top eight for the title. Despite losing to Maccabi in the first match of the new playoffs, the Basque team managed to earn a place in the playoffs by defeating Virtus in the second and well-deserved match at the Buesa Arena in front of the fans.

Five years later, the Blaugrana were again among the top eight European teams and had to face the regular playoff leaders for the title. Despite fighting to the end, Baskonia failed to advance past the best-of-five match against Real Madrid and bid farewell to the EuroLeague season 23–24.

A campaign in which the Basque team proved that it is one of the leading teams on the continent, ranking among the top five teams in the classification of various aspects of the game, such as points scored, trebles, assists and rebounds. In addition, they managed to beat all the teams that competed in the regular league playoffs, except Monaco.

Marcus Howard led the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague in scoring (19.2) and three-pointers (3.8). For his part, Cody Miller-McIntyre finishes the season as the team’s top assists player, averaging 7.2 assists. Baskonistas captain Tadas Sedekerskis finished the season as the third leading rebounder with an average of 6.8 rebounds per game.

Baskonia finished the season proud of having fought to the end, pleasing all their fans and showing Europe what Baskonia’s character is all about.
