Biden calls Trump’s reaction to his decision ‘dangerous’

WASHINGTON (EFE). – United States President Joe Biden said this Friday, in reference to the guilty verdict received by former President Donald Trump (2017-2021), that “no one is above the law” and that he considered it “reckless and dangerous” that it suggests that the verdict was rigged.

“It is reckless, dangerous and irresponsible for anyone to suggest that this was rigged just because they don’t like the decision,” he said in a speech from the White House announced this Friday. Middle East.

Biden spoke a day after Trump’s criminal trial in New York found him guilty of all 34 charges of falsifying business records to silence his affair with porn actress Stormy Daniels.

The Democratic president said Trump has the opportunity to appeal the verdict “just like any other”: “That’s how the American judicial system works.”

Biden asks Trump to respect the justice system

Shortly after hearing the verdict, the former Republican president declared himself a “political prisoner” on Thursday and this Friday in a press conference in New York he dedicated a large part of his words to discussing the legitimacy of the trial and indicated that he would appeal, alleging, among other points, that Judge Juan Merchan prevented him from speaking on several occasions.

“Our court system is nearly 250 years old and is literally the cornerstone of America. The justice system must be respected and we should never allow anybody to dismantle it. That’s who America is, that’s who we are and that’s who we will always be, God willing,” Biden said.

The president stressed that the jury reached a unanimous verdict, it was composed of 12 ordinary American citizens, and their choice was the same as that of “every jury in the United States.”

“The American principle that no one is above the law was reaffirmed. Donald Trump had every opportunity to defend himself. This was a state matter, not a federal matter,” Biden stressed about his potential rival in next November’s presidential elections.
