This Tuesday the news arrives through Jeff Passan, via Twitter, of the agreement of the Bostonian franchise with the third baseman Rafael Devers for the 2023 season. The agreement comes for 17.5 million for the coming season, thus avoiding salary arbitration. Devers was in his third and final year of arbitration and will be a free agent in 2024. This deal is a step forward for the team that must seek a long-term extension with the 26-year-old.
“Carita” has been on the Boston team for six years, having won the 2018 World Series with the team. In addition, in three seasons he has received votes for the MVP award and in the last two seasons he has been called up to the Midseason Classic. In 2021 he won the silver bat in the American League as the most outstanding third baseman offensively.

Without a doubt, this agreement leaves both managers and fans of the red-legs very happy, who have already seen Xander Bogaerts go and trust “Raffy” to be the figure of the team and win a World Series again as they already did in 2018.
