The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that five people were killed during an attack by Israeli forces on Nour al-Shams, a refugee camp in Tulkarm, north of the occupied West Bank.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the operation began Thursday night “to counter terrorism in Nour al-Shams” and “so far forces have killed several terrorists, detained several wanted persons, destroyed buildings Have searched and discovered explosives”.

The operation appears to be one of the largest in the West Bank since October 7.

Video obtained by CNN showed gunfire Saturday morning, as well as new Israeli troops advancing toward the camp.

Wafa reported that one of the dead was a child, while the Palestinian Health Ministry said the other was a 16-year-old.

Wafa cited witnesses who claimed that Israeli forces were “holding the bodies of victims and preventing ambulance crews from reaching them.” CNN has contacted the IDF for comment on the operation, including this claim.

Wafa reported that the army surrounded Nour al-Shams after launching an offensive on Thursday night, “deploying military vehicles on all routes leading to the camp and the main road amid reconnaissance aircraft flying over the area.” “Closed.”

According to Wafa, bulldozers destroyed water and sewage networks and disrupted electricity supplies, while “dozens of youths” were detained.

A video obtained by CNN shows how several youths were forced into Israeli military vehicles.
