Cardi B and Sha’Carri Richardson decorate their nails for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris

Cardi B has joined the ranks of artists featured in NBCUniversal’s 2024 Summer Olympics campaign.

During NBC’s Kentucky Derby broadcast on Saturday (May 4), a new commercial for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris aired. The ninety-second commercial features Grammy Award-winning rapper Cardi B and Olympic track and field hopeful Sha’Carri Richardson enjoying a casual conversation about the challenges of their professional lives and a pampering session at a nail salon.

“I want to learn a little about training. How many times a week do you train? How many hours?” Cardi B asked, showing off her painted nails. “I literally work out five days a week,” Richardson replied, enjoying her manicure. “The corporate nine to five is my nine to five on the treadmill.”

A two-minute, eight-second video showing a wider portion of the conversation is now available on YouTube. The segment ends with a celebration of the 2024 Summer Olympics, which begin in Paris on July 26. Comcast
Comcast
and NBCUniversal, which will broadcast the event in the US from 2021 to 2032, secured those rights in a deal valued at $7.75 billion, according to Diversity.

As the Paris Olympics quickly approach, we continue to strive to create powerful moments that cut through the clutter and resonate with multiple audiences,” said Jenny Storms, director of entertainment and sports marketing at NBCUniversal, in a press statement. “Pairing Sha” Carrie and Cardi were perfect for each other. They are titans in their respective fields, mutual fans of each other and have many common interests. Sports, music and pop culture audiences will seek their genuine love and respect.”

Sha’Carri Richardson, who won the title of “World’s Fastest Woman” after winning the 100m gold medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, is preparing to compete in the Olympic trials in the United States this June. If she qualifies, she is expected to compete for gold in a number of athletics events at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Cardi B went lyrical for the first time this year in March, releasing “Like What (Freestyle),” accompanied by a brilliant music video directed by Offset. The song, which samples Missy Elliott’s classic “She’s a Bitch,” is the epitome of Cardi B’s freestyle prowess with bold, braggadocious lyrics.

As part of its 2024 Summer Olympics programming, NBCU will release several clips of a conversation between the “Like What” rapper and the Olympic hopeful in the coming months. The videos will also be promoted on the two superstars’ social media profiles.

Cardi B joins an illustrious group of celebrities including Megan Thee Stallion, Dolly Parton, Paris Hilton, Peyton Manning, Roman Reigns and the Minions to appear in a promotional ad for the Paris Olympics. The campaign promises more artist-athlete pairings in conversations, increasing the excitement as the games approach.
