Motorola Edge 50 Pro: Setting the Pace

The Moto Edge 50 series stands out with its design. Both the Pro and Fusion models feature genuine leather trim, a streamlined body that curves at the back, and are certified IP68 protection against water and dust throughout the entire line, something that has always characterized the brand.

The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is very similar to the Ultra model, although it has a slightly lower but more modern processor. We find Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 next to 12 GB RAM and 512 GB internal memory. This is a configuration that should provide excellent performance, although it is not the top of the line among flagships. In terms of memory, Motorola explains that it is adding a memory booster, taking advantage of the internal memory as virtual memory.

The screen chosen for the Moto Edge 50 Pro is a 6.7-inch pOLED panel with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels in a 20:9 aspect ratio. It stands out for its brightness of 2000 nits and mainly 144Hz refresh ratea theoretical step higher than 120Hz, which is usually found in most modern mobile phone panels.

Motorola also boasts the addition of HDR10+ certification and Dolby Atmos audio thanks to dual stereo speakers. In the case of the Pro model, it also comes with Snapdragon Sound technology, which improves Bluetooth connection latency.

At the battery level, it has a capacity of 4500 mAh and 125W TurboPower fast charging via cable and 50W wireless charging.also stands out in this area compared to many competitors in its price range.

In the photography sector, Motorola uses new Lytia sensors. We have a triple configuration with a 50 megapixel main sensor and record aperture f/1.4promising to capture 64% more light compared to an f/1.8 lens.

It features a 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with optical image stabilization and 3x zoom. The front camera is equipped with a 50 megapixel sensor.

As Motorola explains, for the new Edge 50 family they have partnered with Pantone, receiving special certification of Pantone colorists for both photography and screen.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: a design to match

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion also has a design. IP68, Gorilla glass 5 and versions with genuine leather trim.

The selected screen is a 6.7-inch 144Hz POLED panel with HDR10+. The main difference is on the inside, where it adds a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 5,000mAh battery, although without the fast charging of the Pro model.

For photography, it loses the telephoto lens, although it adds 50-megapixel sensor LYTIA LYT-700C along with optical image stabilization. The front camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels.

Android 14 is the software version chosen for the new Edge 50 family. It includes the Hello UX customization layer and the Smart Connect feature that integrates Motorola devices with Lenovo products from the same group, such as laptops and tablets.
