DreadXP Announces Classic Aesthetic Survival Horror Heartworm

Horrible experiencerenowned publisher of horror video games, today announced the acquisition of publishing rights heartwormgame of retro psychological survival horror which pays homage to the lo-fi look classic of the 90s genre such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Dino Crisis.

Heartworm, from developer Vincent Adinolfi, is a nostalgia-infused nightmare about a girl’s struggle with grief and otherworldly manifestations that may hold the key to the afterlife. Players will step into a world born from memories when Heartworm releases on Steam for Windows PC in 2025.

Heartworm’s main character, Sam, obsessed with the deaths of those closest to her, spends her days on the Internet searching for something; a response or distraction, perhaps to ease your pain. Her dark investigation leads her to the dark web, where she stumbles upon an online forum that talks about a mysterious house in the mountains that supposedly has a connection to the afterlife. The forum claims that none of those who visited the house ever returned. Internet folklore? Rambling conspiracy theories? Sam, overwhelmed by her grief, desperately searches for a home; without caring about the consequences.

Heartworm is a game about the memories we keep and the ones we wish we could forget. These themes are expressed through an emotionally charged narrative and classic console-era game design with cinematic fixed camera angles, low-resolution retro 3D graphics, and optional tank-style controls. Players will be immersed in a surreal suburban environment, facing terrifying enemies using a weaponized camera (with an over-the-shoulder scope) and solving puzzles. Heartworm also includes classic-style pre-rendered in-game cutscenes, multiple unlockable endings, and a beautiful yet immersive soundtrack.

“Words cannot express how excited I am that DreadXP has taken on Heartworm,” said developer Vincent Adinolfi. “There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding the game this past year, due to the unexpected end of our previous publishing deal and the general climate of uncertainty in the industry. I wasn’t sure I could finish this game I set. everything inside.”

Heartworm will be released for Windows PC on Steam in 2025. Fans can wishlist the game on Steam and download the demo today.
