Final Fantasy 6, one of the most beloved role-playing games of all time, is hailed by fans and critics at every opportunity, despite the fact that it came out almost 30 years ago. For this reason, fans are constantly asking for it to be updated for current times and get some kind of remake, somewhat similar to what is happening with Final Fantasy 7. However, its original director Yoshinori Kitase recently spoke about whether Square Enix will take on this project: it will require about 20 years of work.
In an interview, the veteran producer and director talked about how he knows how much fans love this particular installment and that he’s heard cries for a remake. But, he says, a project at the level of FF7, which has already taken about 10 years of work, would have taken almost twice as long. The reason for this is the number of playable characters in the game, each of which has different mechanics, storyline and gameplay.
At the same time, the director of the first 5 games and the creator of the saga, Hironobu Sakaguchi, also stated that remaking FF6 would be even more difficult due to the transition from 2D pixel graphics to 3D.
The most recent version of Final Fantasy 6 is the Pixel Remaster. This version, although noble and fulfills its task of bringing the game to current platforms, is far from the large-scale remake that some fans are asking for. However, there are some counter-arguments on the networks that with a new version in the style of Octopath Traveler 2 this will be enough,
