Four astronauts from the Ax-3 mission successfully arrived at the ISS

The crew of Axiom Space’s Ax-3 mission successfully arrived at the International Space Station (ISS), a journey lasting approximately 36 hours. The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft docked with the ISS Harmony module, rising above the Pacific Ocean.

The Ax-3 mission marks another milestone, becoming the first all-European commercial astronaut mission sent to the ISS. redefining the path to low Earth orbit (LEO) and helping chart the course to Axiom Station, the world’s first commercial space station.

The Ax-3 crew includes commander Michael Lopez-Alegria from the United States and Spain, pilot Walter Villaday from the Italian Air Force, as well as mission specialists Alper Gezeravci from Turkey and Swede Markus Wandt from the European Union Space Agency (ESA). For two weeks, the crew on board the ISS will consist of 11 people.

Multinational Ax-3 astronauts departed on their historic mission to the ISS from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The takeoff took place last Thursday.

The Aks-3 crew entered the space station and was accepted by the NASA expedition crew for a welcoming ceremony that will begin their 14-day mission at the orbiting laboratory, which conducts microgravity research, technology demonstrations and outreach activities.

These efforts are aimed at advancing human spaceflight and contributing to improving life on our home planet. Ax-3 is the third of many human spaceflights proposed by Axiom Space, laying the foundation for Axiom Station, which will be the world’s first commercial space station.

The mission is scheduled to end on February 3 with undocking, which will end with splashdown off the coast of Florida aboard the Dragon spaceship.
