In Europe, WhatsApp already allows you to send messages to external applications

whatsappThe world’s leading instant messaging app has announced changes to its terms of service and privacy policy for users in Europe.

According to company reports, these changes, which come into force on April 11, comply with European Union legislation under the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act (DMA).

In response to these changes, WhatsApp, part of Meta, introduced several modifications, including compatibility. This feature allows users of the platform to chat with people on other messaging apps such as Telegram, Facebook Messenger and Signal.

In a recent interview with Edge Dick Brower, WhatsApp’s CTO, explained that interoperability not only makes it easier for different apps to interact, but also supports the company’s commitment to privacy, security and integrity of communications.

Additionally, this WhatsApp update includes changes to the minimum age required to use the service in Europe, which has increased from 16 to 13 years, as well as adjustments to international data transfer arrangements.

These changes ensure that WhatsApp complies with European regulations and gives users greater control and protection of their personal data. Another change is the visual modification of the application, which will change the interface color from green to white.

Adding group calls and chats between different apps is also in the works.

To use this feature, which is currently only available to users in the European Union, you must follow these steps: Settings > Account > Third Party Chat > and turn it on.

Compatibility may expand to other regions of the world in the near future, although Meta has not provided details about this at this time.
