If there is something to reproach phase 4 of the MCU, it is the terrible handling they did with the character of Wanda Maximoff / The Scarlet Witch. Although she is one of the most powerful and memorable heroes in the Marvel universe, the studio decided to make Wanda a villain right after the events in ‘WandaVision’ and, for further insult to injury, killed off the character in her first appearance. like the scarlet witch
For some time there was a theory that Wanda had not died. After all, her exit was ‘off camera’ with a mountain falling on top of her and then a flash of scarlet. Would Marvel really kill off one of his most powerful and popular characters like this?
The bad news is that Marvel appears to have killed off Wanda and Olsen’s character…or at least that there are no plans for her to be part of the MCU universe in the near future. In an interview with The Today Show The actress who played the Scarlet Witch from ‘Age of Ultron’ said she ‘hoped’ to return to the role, but had no idea if it would happen. In fact, she clarified that she wanted to be very careful because her intention to continue being Wanda was her wish, but that there is nothing at this time that indicates the return of her character.
In fact, the actress confirmed that she has not filmed any new Scarlet Witch content and that she has not seen any Marvel script either. In fact, she currently does not have a contract with the studio… which seems to confirm the studio’s decision.

Marvel is an expert at keeping secrets and there’s always the possibility that Olsen is guarding some surprise cameo in an MCU movie. But considering what we’ve seen, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s telling the truth. Right now the studio’s priority seems to be telling the story of new characters and faces, not necessarily returning to a villain like Wanda or resuming a film as controversial as ‘Multiverse of Madness’.
If there is a focus of hope, it is the appearance of the X-Men within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We don’t have the first clue as to how the team will join the MCU heroes, though the presence of mutants has already been confirmed in the connected universe of movies. Professor X’s team has dozens of iconic stories to adapt, but one that seems indispensable is House of M’s when Magneto creates a world where mutants control the planet and then Wanda casts a spell that erases her from the universe.
It would be a shame if we don’t have “no more mutants” on the big screen… and Marvel villains have come back from the dead with less credible excuses than surviving a collapsing mountain. We can hope that as long as it takes, Marvel will finally do justice to the character of the Scarlet Witch.
