Joan Laporta in posthumous tribute to Franz Beckenbauer
FC Barcelona, through President Joan Laporta, its highest institutional figure, was present together with sporting director Deco at the posthumous memorial ceremony Franz Beckenbauer which took place this Friday at Allianz ArenaBayern Stadium in Munich, where German society and the world of football said goodbye to the historical German player.
Joan Laportabefore the ceremony he signed a book of condolences in which various figures from the world of sport and German institutions left in writing their personal tributes to one of the most prominent figures in world football, who died on January 7 last year in Vienna at the age of 78.
After the signing of the contract, the President of FC Barcelona witnessed various memorial events that took place in the center of the playing field and in which some of the players with whom Beckenbauer coincided, both in Bayern and in the German team, such as Rainer Bonhof , Paul Breitner, Andreas Lothar Matthäus or Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and others.
The event was also attended by German President Franz, Walter Steinmeier, President of Bayer Munich, Herbert Hainer, Minister-President of Bavaria Markus Söder, as well as Ueli Hoens, former President of Bayern Munich and long-term partner of the German defender.
At the end of the ceremony, President Laporta personally expressed his condolences to the Beckenbauer family, Bayer Munich president Herbert Hainer, as well as other football figures associated with the Bavarian club such as Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Franz Beckenbauer was a symbol of German sports and a legend of world football.
