Kaitlyn Dever will play a controversial character
The first new cast of the long-awaited return of the HBO series Last of us a second season has been announced.
Kaitlyn Dever has joined the cast of the acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama as conflicted and vengeful soldier Abby Anderson.
“Our casting process for Season 2 was identical to Season 1: We are looking for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material,” explained co-creators, writers, executive producers and directors Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. in a joint press release.
“Nothing is more important than talent, and we are thrilled to have such a renowned performer as Caitlin join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”
News of Abby Anderson’s casting broke last September. In an interview with Los Angeles TimesMazin reported that the position had been taken.
Dever is best known for her roles in Book Shop And Reasonable and previously appeared in Unknown 4another creation by Naughty Dog.
Dever reacted to the news with an Instagram post saying, “So excited to be joining the family.”
Along with Dever is recently Emmy-nominated Young Masino for his role as Paul Cho in Beef you’ve chosen to play Jesse, a beloved member of the franchise.
“Young is one of those rare actors that you can’t deny once you see him. We’re so lucky to have him and we can’t wait for audiences to see Young shine on our show,” the co-creators shared.
In early 2023, HBO’s adaptation of Naughty Dog’s popular game franchise received critical acclaim.
In the series, Pedro Pascal plays Joel, a smuggler who is forced to travel across the United States with Ellie (Bella Ramsey), a teenager immune to a virus that turns the population into mutated zombified creatures.

Casey Bloys, CEO of HBO, announced at a press conference on November 2, 2023 that production on the second season is scheduled for early this year, with a pre-release planned for 2025, as reported deadline.
