(CNN, Spanish) — The former president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, must appear before the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 4 of Majadahonda once a month and as many times as necessary. The precautionary measure was taken this Monday after Rubiales declared himself under investigation in the famous “Brody” case, as reported by the Supreme Court of Madrid (TSJM).

The Brodie investigation is focusing on possible irregularities in contracts entered into by the RFEF to bring the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN. This is a tournament that has been held in Saudi Arabia since 2020 (with the exception of 2021 when it could not be held due to travel restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic) and will continue until 2029 for a fee. €30 million (US$34 million) per season.
