map size, history and more

Yesterday, February 21st, was a big day for the video game industry: Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, Grounded and Pentiment will finally arrive on Nintendo and PlayStation consoles. FromSoftware managed to live up to this great news by releasing the premiere of the first gameplay trailer for Shadow of the Erdtree, the Elden Ring add-on.

The three minutes and nine seconds of the trailer is enough to talk for hours, but Hidetaka Miyazaki had plans: he revealed very important details about the DLC during a media interview with Eurogamer. Person responsible for Elden Ring once again noted that this is FromSoftware’s largest expansion. And this is logical, various sources note that this is a combination of two DLCs.

When DC Comics signed Stan Lee and he reinvented all the heroes and villains of the Justice League in his own way.

Author George R.R. Martin is once again involved with the project, although he notes that it’s essentially the same thing as the base experience: establishing pillars and concepts related to the lore so that FromSoftware can shape the world and everything it includes.

Shadow of the Erdtree is based on some of the original mythology he wrote for us. This is not a new myth that he wrote specifically for Shadow of the Erdtree, nor did he create anything new that changed the design of the DLC. This is just another part of the original story that we saw fit to explain as a new expansion.

This refers to the empyrean Mikella. On the other hand, it answers one of the most frequently asked questions: map dimensions. “Think of something even bigger than Necrolimbo in the base game,” he said. While it would be a big expansion, he noted that they chose to make it smaller than the original map to offer a different rhythm to the game.

This time we want more depth and provide a denser, richer level of design that makes this type of layout flow more fluidly. (…) there will be large open spaces as well as dungeons, but we’ve experimented with something more in the middle to offer more varied gameplay.

Finally, it offers other interesting details: there will be at least 10 boss fights, new weapons, armor, magic and martial arts, a new character development element, and they have kept the endgame difficulty Elden Ring for DLC. Of course, keep in mind that we will once again have the freedom to choose both our path and our battles. This confirms that there will be a new swamp, as we feared.
