New exhibition puts the Moon at our fingertips



He science museum presents a new exhibition ‘The moon is at your fingertips‘. It offers a tour of Earth’s only satellite, from the first observations to new space missions. The exhibition was held thanks to cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA).

Structured in four thematic areas, the visitor will learn about “The Moon through History.” There are records of astronomical observations dating back to prehistoric times. Among the exhibits is a copy Galileo Galilei telescope.

The second space, Moon in Data, is dedicated to better understanding the lunar structure, soil composition and lunar landscape (craters, dark and light areas). Among other aspects, it also includes the phases of the moon, which the public will learn about through various interactive and audio-visual materials.

Lunar Exploration: Past and Future examines NASA missions from the mythical Apollo to the present. On display is a replica of the Apollo 11 mission’s command module seat, the craft that sheltered the astronauts throughout much of the mission: launch, translunar trajectory, entry into lunar orbit, and return to Earth.

The fourth zone, called “The Future”, is dedicated to the Artemis program. A series of lunar missions led by NASA that represent the first step in establishing a long-term human presence on the Moon and preparing for missions to Mars.
