New ‘low-cost’ supermarket threatens Mercadona

At the end of February, a new supermarket chain comes to Portugal. budget who promises to threaten Mercadona. It is called Action, it is of Dutch origin and will arrive in Vila Nova de Gaia (Porto) next Thursday, February 29th.

This will not be the only store that the new chain will open in the neighboring country, as job offers have already been published for Barcelos, Guarda, Santo Tirso and Entroncamento. This is an inexpensive retailer of non-food products, known throughout Europe.

However, “Action” is already known in several regions of our country. Almost thirty establishments are scattered throughout Madrid, Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Murcia region, as well as in Zaragoza and Ciudad Real. In total, the chain has more than 2,500 stores throughout the old continent.

It was created in 1993 and is present in 11 countries: Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Slovakia and Spain. Among its catalog you can find products from kitchen utensils, clothing, decor, cleaning, personal care or some food products.

Like other supermarket chains such as Lidl or Aldi, they have a weekly promotion where you can find a range of exclusive products at great prices. Every week more than 150 new products appear, among which standouts include, for example, plant pots, hand cream, socks, slippers or scented candles.
