NFL Power Rankings at the End of the Regular Season
Let’s take a look at the hierarchy of the 32 league clubs according to our experts based on the results of 18 weeks of the regular season.
The 2023 regular season has ended, and with it the final edition of the tournament. NFL Power Rankings from ESPN, for now. It was a rollercoaster of emotions – for some teams the lows were more dramatic than the highs – but all clubs experienced ups and downs.
As expected, the playoff teams dominate the top half of the table, while those already on holiday sit at the bottom. However, the order in which they appeared does not necessarily correspond to the final league positions, as our weekly list is all about highlights.
Without further ado, we present NFL Power Rankings ESPN based on the results of the regular season:
Note: The number in the first brackets indicates the place of this team in the last week’s rankings. The second bracket indicates the team’s final score.
Baltimore’s biggest test will be to take the field when the divisional round begins with no signs of rust from the inactivity ahead of them, something they were unable to do in 2019. — R.Z.
The 49ers decided to rest most of their players last week, so they will play their first playoff game after a long layoff; Let’s see if it doesn’t cost them too much. — E.K.
The final stretch of the season allowed the Cowboys to claim the division crown when it seemed destined for the Eagles, and their reward would be facing a team that has excelled in the playoffs in recent years. –LMW
There are many reasons for Detroit fans to be excited about their Lions’ return to postseason play and, most of all, how they achieved that return. However, we haven’t found an icon on this roster yet on the level of Barry Sanders or Calvin Johnson. — R.Z.
The Bills were the big winners of the weekend. Not only did they sweep the Dolphins for the AFC East title, but they also earned the right to host the lowest-seeded team in the American Conference in the Wild Card round. — E.K.
Cleveland is an awkward team that no one will want to see in the playoffs due to the intensity of their defense and Joe Flacco’s management experience. They definitely exceeded expectations. –LMW
If I were a Kansas City fan, I would be very concerned about the lack of depth at Patrick Mahomes’ wide receivers, although past postseason experience works in the Chiefs’ favor. — R.Z.
The Dolphins had the AFC East title in their hands and just let it slip away. Aside from the numerous injuries Miami has suffered throughout the season, the biggest doubt heading into the playoffs is Tua Tagovailoa’s ability to overcome a poor showing. — E.K.
Philadelphia will enter the playoffs very weakened in terms of injuries and confidence due to the way they finished the regular season, to the point where a loss to the Buccaneers in the Wild Card round doesn’t seem unreasonable either. –LMW
The Rams seem to come out of nowhere and become a confident and dangerous team for Detroit and anyone else they may encounter along the way. — R.Z.
Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, Houston has a strong future with head coach DeMeco Ryans and quarterback C.J. Stroud. — E.K.
They won the annual series against the Ravens – Baltimore’s second game with a lot of changes – but got the job done and made the playoffs despite inconsistency at the quarterback position. –LMW
It’s nice to start the postseason on a positive note, but the lackluster win over Carolina should raise red flags for Tampa Bay coaches. — R.Z.
Jordan Love accomplished what Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers couldn’t: He led the Packers to the playoffs in his first season as a starter. — E.K.
They have improved significantly from last season offensively, but it hasn’t been enough for them to make the playoffs and they haven’t made the postseason three years in a row, so the pressure is mounting on Dennis Allen. –LMW
The competition system is what it is and no one here is asking to change it, but that’s fine as long as we accept that the Bengals are a better team than some of those who made the playoffs. — R.Z.
Tyler Goodson will long regret the pass he couldn’t catch on the last series against the Texans, but the young running back won’t have to endure the loss, let alone the Colts’ elimination; It was a team effort. — E.K.

Tennessee showed its ego by knocking Jacksonville out of the playoffs. Now the offseason is heading into a world of uncertainty, starting with the future of running back Derrick Henry. — E.K.

The Chargers general manager vacancy could be one of the most interesting ones for the next hiring cycle due to the number of names on the roster as well as the value associated with those names. — R.Z.
