OpenIA is developing a ChatGPT search engine that will offer Internet answers with links to sources – Technologies

MADRID, 8 (Portaltic/EP)

OpenIA is moving forward with work on a web search engine to integrate directly into its ChatGPT “chatbot”, which will be able to search the web for answers for users and include a list of sources used.

The tech firm is looking to expand the capabilities of its “chatbot” with a search engine that will allow it to compete with offerings from Perplexity and Google, as currently, while it can pull answers from the internet in some cases, they are limited to the ChatGPT payment version.

This isn’t the first time OpenAI’s work has been featured on its own search engine; In mid-February, The Information reported on the development of the service, which was then understood to be an extension of Browse with Bing and would be supported in part by Microsoft’s search engine.

This new feature will allow a user to ask questions to ChatGPT, and that agent will offer an answer with information from the Internet, accompanied by sources that allow them to verify its origin, a source familiar with the plans shared with Bloomberg.
