Oppenheimer’s Emily Blunt apologizes to Cillian Murphy for painful deleted scene

Emily Blunt has opened up about the difficult times she went through with her Oppenheimer co-star Cillian Murphy both off and on.

The 40-year-old star was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Kitty Oppenheimer, the wife of Murphy’s character J. Robert Oppenheimer.

Along with Blunt’s nomination, Oppenheimer is up for multiple Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. and Best Actor for Murphy.

And it seems Murphy was more than happy to suffer for his art: Blunt recently told the Sun that she hit him in the face so hard that his cheekbone was slightly damaged.

Apologizing to her co-star, she told the publication: “Sorry about your cheekbone, Killian.

“Poor Killian. Chris said, “Hit him.” And I was like, “I don’t know.”

“And Killian was like, ‘Do this, do that.’ Chris said, “He’ll be fine.” . . do it’.

“I slapped him in the face and then grabbed him, or rather, by the neck, by the collar.

“I just saw that in about ten takes, that famous cheekbone became even more noticeable—and it’s not even in the movie.”

And that’s not the worst part—Blunt went on to explain that she decided to buy her co-star a thoughtful gift before filming, but that good deed soon went wrong and poor Murphy had to “glue” it back together. . Not ideal, right?

Revealing that she had decided to buy him a “fantastic” pillow, she continued: “He will kill me for telling this story.

“I was really worried about Killian’s sleep when we started filming because I felt like he had a huge job to do in the role.

“I thought it would be a good gift to start filming.

“He told me he woke up in the middle of the night and was so excited to go back to sleep on the pillow that he kind of threw his head back on it and smashed his head on the bedside table.

“He enjoyed it so much that he broke his head.

“So he came on set and they had to tape his head shut, all because of a pillow.”

And if all that wasn’t enough, she also touched on Murphy’s parting gift, who gave her the bottle she “almost killed him with” while filming another particularly brutal scene.

Murphy definitely deserved an Oscar nomination, didn’t he?
