A Michigan man started the year yesterday as a millionaire. Match six Powerball numbers and win a total of $842 million 400 thousand.
However, several smaller prize tickets were sold in the tri-state area.
The winning numbers for the January 1st drawing were 12,21,42,44,49, and Powerball is 01.
The Connecticut Lottery confirmed that a $1 million ticket was sold in the state.. Also 54 $100 prizes.
The New York lottery announced that 4 people won $50,000 prize.
In the states California, Florida and Maryland also sold winning tickets. a million dollars.
And in Florida and Texas there were two $2 million prizes.
The lucky jackpot winner will receive a total of approximately $409 million after taxes.
