Promitec organizes the Pork Symposium in Medellin – Press releases from the pork sector

The thematic program featured national and international speakers who stand out for their extensive experience and knowledge in the sector.


Below are the conferences held as part of the symposium:


  • Dr. Alejandro Sorasi, Principal Investigator of CONICET and Lecturer at the National University of the Central Province of Buenos Aires; participated with two topics: “Important aspects of pregnancy, parturition and lactation to improve future development of pigs” and “Importance of brush border enzymes and intestinal transporters for digestibility and conversion in pigs.”
  • Dr. Michael Azain, Professor Emeritus at the University of Georgia, spoke about “The Fundamentals and Importance of Porcine Gut Integrity and Health from a Nutritional Perspective.”
  • Dr. Jaime Andres Angel, innovative nutritionist at Promitec, focused on “The importance of brush border enzymes and intestinal transporters for digestibility and conversion in pigs.”
  • Dr. Jaime Parra presented the conference “Discovering the World of Gut Bacterial Communities and Their Impact on Pig Production.”
  • Dr. Congcheng Cai, a researcher in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Arkansas, spoke at the conference, “Novel Biotechnological Tools for Antibiotic Reversal Based on Microbiota and Productivity Measurements.”


The event also included a forum entitled “Experience of eliminating antibiotics or reducing the use of chemicals in pork production.” In addition, visitors were able to enjoy stand-up comedy by Pamela Ospina.
